Knighton Town Crier Festival

A traditional cry has been heard loud and clear from the Town for the past eight years as crowds gather for an unusual competition aiming to find the nation's best Town Crier.

The criers travel the length and breadth of Britain for the chance to take part and be crowned the winner. Up to twenty Town Criers in full costume will gather again at Knighton Church Hall on the morning of Saturday 20th August 2011 for the annual 'Welsh Border Open' competition. They will proceed down Broad Street led by Knighton's host Town Crier and Knighton Town Silver Band. The competition then gets underway with a home cry followed by a themed cry in the afternoon. Admission is free.
